O2 Hotel

TPHS were appointed by Grove Developments ltd to advise on the design of the arrival, car parking and drop off space for the new O2 Hotel within Greenwich Peninsula.

The brief was to re design the planning approval drawings that were previously agreed to ensure that specific areas of the drop off and entry and exit barrier system worked better and provided adequate capacity for the customers of the banqueting area and ballroom. This space has capacity for some 5,000 guests.

Working with the landscape architect and the client group TPHS undertook an overview of the constraints and opportunities for the area and the layout and provided a large quantity of Autotrack plots and design options for the client body review. There were a significant number and many competing components to assess and two options were taken forward for testing in terms of throughput capacity of the barrier controls system.

As part of the brief detailed outline designs were provided for the highway, signs and road markings for the new layout to enable agreement with LB Greenwich to be reached and then from which the contractor could deliver the new proposals.

The project required out of the box thinking and quick turnaround delivery as the contractor was already on site when we were appointed.
